AMERICA 2050

7 national values

The values the architecture is built on

Each value implies a demand on the system — and a set of principles that try to meet it.

  1. 01

    Freedom

People should have extraordinary freedom to live, believe, create, work and pursue happiness.

A system where no company, algorithm, or official can quietly take freedoms it was never granted.

  2. 02

    Justice

Justice should not depend on wealth, power, status or connections.

Equal protection and due process that hold regardless of who you are or what you can afford.

  3. 03

    Opportunity

Your circumstances at birth should not determine your ceiling.

Real pathways from education to capital to ownership, open regardless of where you started.

  4. 04

    Responsibility

Freedom requires responsibility to yourself, your family, your community and your country.

Costs stated honestly and tradeoffs earned — not deferred to the next generation.

  5. 05

    Human Dignity

Every person has inherent worth and should be treated with dignity.

A floor beneath everyone, and a real path back up when disruption knocks someone off it.

  6. 06

    Excellence

America should aspire to build, invent and accomplish extraordinary things.

Strategic capability and relentless competition, built without letting scale become political power.

  7. 07

    Stewardship

We are temporary custodians of America, its institutions, resources and wealth.

Fiscal discipline and honest measurement, so the next generation inherits more than it's owed.
