The vision
What if we designed America for 2050?
Make an extraordinary life achievable for an ordinary American.
The objective isn't to guarantee everyone the same life. It's to build a country where an ordinary person's starting point stops setting the limit on how far they can go — and where that's true because of how the system is built, not despite it.
This is a design target, not a prediction. Nobody knows exactly what 2050 looks like. What follows is a hypothesis about what would have to be true for an ordinary American's life to be extraordinary by then — and the rest of this site is the attempt to test it.
- Circumstances at birth don't determine your ceiling
- Technology expands what's possible, not just what's profitable
- Government actually works, and works quickly
- Markets compete relentlessly to create wealth
- Citizens own part of the future they're building
- No concentration of wealth or political power can capture the system
Turning that into something real
takes seven values and twenty principles — and a willingness to be wrong about some of them.
